Nano’s Eye View of the Narmada River Bridge near Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh!!

After being stuck in traffic for more than an hour, we somehow managed to find clear roads and stopped soon after to allow the rest of the Superdrive troop to join us.

IMG_1283-800
The pit stop location was picturesque with the pristine looking Narmada River and its long railway and road bridges giving us company!!

Nano gets stranded in the middle of a railway crossing!

We were enroute to Nagpur when we encountered a huge line of traffic. Slowly, but steadily we inched forward. No one knew the cause and so didn’t we until we arrived at a railway crossing. Both sides of the railway crossing had more than 10 kilometres of traffic lined up.

IMG_1258-800
It was bumper to bumper traffic and inching very slowly. When the traffic finally stopped, we found ourselves in the middle of the railway crossing and soon we saw that the railway crossing gates were being closed as trains were headed straight at us.

IMG_1262-800
As I turned right, I saw one train coming straight at us. Then I turned left and was stunned when I saw another train coming at us. We were totally sandwiched. A jeep was also caught on the railway lines along with us.

IMG_1266-800
Quickly, I gathered my senses and rushed to the railway crossing official and asked him to open the crossing gates for a brief moment so that we could go to the other side. This was done and we moved into safety zone quickly. Within 30 seconds, the trains passed us and the day was saved. Phew! What a close shave!

Pit Stop at Bheem Betika, a proposed World Heritage Site!!

We were approximately 60 kilometres out of Bhopal, when Saurav, the Customer Service Manager, Tata Motors Madhya Pradesh took an impromptu decision to take a detour towards Bheem Betika, a proposed World Heritage Site. And what a brilliant decision it turned out to be…

IMG_1205-800
This place is one of Madhya Pradesh’s famous tourist attractions as it contains really old, but simple paintings in the confines of sandstone caves. These paintings depict life thousands of years back in the form of horse-fighting techniques, basic art, hunting techniques, etc.

IMG_1248-800
Set amidst some hillocks, these sandstone rocks and caves stand tall amidst the rest of the plains. At some points from these caves, one can get a panoramic view of the Bhopal region.

IMG_1252-800
Overall, the best pit stop the White Route Nano Superdrive troop have had so far!

Chief Election Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh flags off Nano Superdrive from Mechmen Motors, Bhopal!

Mechmen Motors situated on the NH 12 highway, just outside of Bhopal has a fairly large Tata dealership. This was the location of our flag off from Bhopal and towards Nagpur.

IMG_1164-800
The chief guest for this event was Mr. AV Singh, Chief Election Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh. A lot of local media and press photographers were also present to cover the event in detail.

IMG_1189-800
Once the chief guest had arrived and prior to the actual flag off ceremony, there were speeches given by the Chief Election Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh, the Tata Motors Territory Manager of Bhopal and the Dealership owner.

IMG_1199-800
Once the flag was waved by the chief guest, the Superdrive Nanos made their way down the long ramp. It was a great sight to see the Nanos one behind the other making their way out. Post this, the press team from the regional and national dailies soaked in the comforts of the Nano for a brief while before returning back into town.

Nagpur, here we come!!

Tata Nano brings its customers together at Bhopal!

The evening of June 5, there was an event held exclusively for the customers of Tata Nano. This event was held at Hotel Ranjith Lake View in Bhopal.

IMG_1141-800
The agenda of the event was to bring together all the Nano customers under one roof and let them share their experiences with the Nano in the open forum.

IMG_1143-800
Since this was a family event, a lot of extra curricular activities were provided for. A lot of contests where held. Kids could take part in Nano jigsaw, Nino dice and other games. It was a very well organized and interactive event.

IMG_1147-800
While, young girls and women alike could colour their hands in what was called “The Nano Mehendi”. This event ended on a bright note with dinner and some refreshing music.

92.7 Big FM Radio team and the Nano Superdrive!

The 92.7 Big FM radio team from Bhopal were giving their listeners a great opportunity to come, see and sit in the Nano.

IMG_1138-800
So, while the photo shoot by the lake side was happening, we were joined by the 92.7 Big FM team and some selected winners.

IMG_1139-800
This entire team got a great opportunity to check out all the Superdrive Nanos and sit and drive in the confines of a selected few. Finally, the Big FM team presented them with some gift packets for winning their contest.

The Nano Superdrive is in the city of lakes today!

Bhopal is titled the city of lakes and very aptly indeed. It is  extremely green near the lake and the lake itself offers some respite from the hot winds that blow across this city.

IMG_1125-800
And in line with this theme, our third photo shoot spot for the day was by the lake and some pretty gardens.

IMG_1126-800
This is the landmark where we saw the Nanos get a lot of attention. People would park their vehicles nearby and come over to examine the Superdrive Nanos.

IMG_1127-800
A couple of interested people even got to test drive the car out here as the roads were relatively free.

Nano Photo shoot at Moti Masjid, Bhopal!

After visiting Birla Mandir, the Nano Superdrive cavalry drove to the other important landmark in the city, Moti Masjid.

IMG_1105-800
Moti Masjid is an old mosque situated in the heart of the city. And, since it is in the heart of the city, the roads are narrow and the traffic can be quite messy too.

IMG_1098-800
This forced us to park our Nanos on the road opposite to the Moti Masjid and set up our photo shoot here.

IMG_1107-800
In spite of all the messy traffic, a good portion of the vehicles and the people passing by stopped for a while to admire the Nano and take photos of it.

IMG_1117-800
Many people had questions too. These questions were answered by the Tata Motors team from Mechmen Motors, Bhopal.

Nanos pose in front of Birla Mandir, Bhopal!!

The Superdrive Nanos on the White Route went out on a city wide photo shoot today.

IMG_1068-800
The first halt was at the picturesque, well maintained and spiritual Birla Temple.

The Nano beauties were very well received at this location in Bhopal!

Lunch Pit Stop enroute to Bhopal!

It was a big lunch party. In the group, we had 2 lucky winners who got to drive the Nano on the highway, press from national and regional dailies and the entire White Route team.

IMG_1037-800
The pit stop was at Shristhi restaurant and club, about an hour and a half away from Indore.

IMG_1030-800
It was a bright and beautiful day, though a tad too warm. The location was pretty and all these conditions brought together in what culminated as a long and exciting photo session.

Nano Superdrive heads towards Bhopal today!

It was a long journey yesterday and we ended up covering 540 kms. Comparatively, today is a much shorter distance at 200 kms.

The Nano Superdrive team will be flagged off at 10 AM from the Sanghi Motors – Tata dealership in Indore. Do stay tuned for more updates!

Apologies for the delayed coverage…

The NH 59 highway to Indore in Madhya Pradesh is in truly a sad state. The entire highway is ridden with potholes leading to ensuing heavy traffic.

IMG_1013-800
All this caused me to divert my attention to the roads, follow road safety protocols and stay away from my live coverage. I assumed that the bad stretch would pass, but unfortunately the potholes kept leading us into Indore, which we finally reached at 8:30 pm.

IMG_1011-800
But, the bright side of the story is that the Nano cars performed admirably. I hope that the roads turn for the better tomorrow when we head towards the capital city of Bhopal and help me continue on my live coverage.

Stay tuned to the Nano Superdrive on the White Route!

The Superdrive Nanos on the White Route tame the ghats of Madhya Pradesh!

How comfortable is the Nano climbing hills and ghats? This is another question to which I found my answer today.

IMG_1000-800
The Nano handles brilliantly on the ghat roads. These drop-dead beauties are extremely rugged and at the same time offer the driver finesse while taking steep turns.

IMG_0998-800
We had a 20 kilometre ghat stretch in Madhya Pradesh that we had to cross enroute to Indore and I should say that our Nano bandwagon simply tamed these winding roads.

IMG_1002-800
Even the pick up and pulling power at steep ascents is admirable.

IMG_1006-800
One doesn’t feel any sway inside the vehicle too. And the low turning radius makes things so much simpler and easier for the driver making the Nano a pleasure to drive vehicle!

A Scenic Nano Stop!

The entire landscape had changed as soon as we entered Madhya Pradesh. It looked drier, but the flats had given way to tiny hills.

IMG_0979-800
The views kept getting better. After admiring these views for a while, we decided to take a pit stop and turn it into a scenic Nano Stop, a true combo punch.

IMG_0982-800
Each of us took turn in posing and taking pictures. The customer service manager from the Tata Motors team led the happy bunch.

IMG_0985-800
Everything looked so pretty. The landscape and the skyscape in the background and the colourful Nanos in the foreground created a great composition.

Pit Stop at Madhya Pradesh Border!

Soon, we were at the Madhya Pradesh border. The road trip was just on the verge of entering a new state.

IMG_0976-800
This pit stop was a quick photography session before we moved on to the heart of India – Madhya Pradesh!
