We had stopped for a late lunch by a road side dhaba in Orissa. And this where the Superdrive Nanos found themselves a lot of admirers.
Not only did these guys admire the cars, but had a lot of glowing comments about its looks.
On hearing the price of these cars, one of them commented: “Why did I pay so much money to buy a bike? I could have put in some more money and bought myself a shining new Nano”.
The Chandipur beach, situated in Orissa and by the Bay of Bengal is a very special place indeed.
This is one of the few places in this world where the differences in low and high tides are the largest. To cite an example, during low tide, the water recedes by as much as five kilometres and one can walk all the way into the ocean bed before rushing back as the water comes back to original levels during high tide.
This was the place where the Nano Superdrive team took a relaxing pit stop!
I captured this during our evening tea stop somewhere on the Madhya Pradesh – Maharashtra border.
All I could admire is the contrast of sorts between the two vehicles in the picture!
After being stuck in traffic for more than an hour, we somehow managed to find clear roads and stopped soon after to allow the rest of the Superdrive troop to join us.
The pit stop location was picturesque with the pristine looking Narmada River and its long railway and road bridges giving us company!!
We were approximately 60 kilometres out of Bhopal, when Saurav, the Customer Service Manager, Tata Motors Madhya Pradesh took an impromptu decision to take a detour towards Bheem Betika, a proposed World Heritage Site. And what a brilliant decision it turned out to be…
This place is one of Madhya Pradesh’s famous tourist attractions as it contains really old, but simple paintings in the confines of sandstone caves. These paintings depict life thousands of years back in the form of horse-fighting techniques, basic art, hunting techniques, etc.
Set amidst some hillocks, these sandstone rocks and caves stand tall amidst the rest of the plains. At some points from these caves, one can get a panoramic view of the Bhopal region.
Overall, the best pit stop the White Route Nano Superdrive troop have had so far!
It was a big lunch party. In the group, we had 2 lucky winners who got to drive the Nano on the highway, press from national and regional dailies and the entire White Route team.
The pit stop was at Shristhi restaurant and club, about an hour and a half away from Indore.
It was a bright and beautiful day, though a tad too warm. The location was pretty and all these conditions brought together in what culminated as a long and exciting photo session.
The thing that appeals to me most about the Nano is its nose. I like the way it proudly points forward.
What is your personal favourite in the Nano?
A highway experience is incomplete without seeing loads of trucks especially in India.
And similarly, a highway shot is incomplete without an Indian truck in it. Luckily for me, the truck pushed his headlights on and this added some additional flavour to the photo. What do you think? Does it make a true highway shot?
The entire landscape had changed as soon as we entered Madhya Pradesh. It looked drier, but the flats had given way to tiny hills.
The views kept getting better. After admiring these views for a while, we decided to take a pit stop and turn it into a scenic Nano Stop, a true combo punch.
Each of us took turn in posing and taking pictures. The customer service manager from the Tata Motors team led the happy bunch.
Everything looked so pretty. The landscape and the skyscape in the background and the colourful Nanos in the foreground created a great composition.
Soon, we were at the Madhya Pradesh border. The road trip was just on the verge of entering a new state.
This pit stop was a quick photography session before we moved on to the heart of India – Madhya Pradesh!
The day was getting warmer. The Baroda expressway was a great drive and we made it in quick time.
But, as soon as we took the exit from the expressway, we faced traffic snarls, especially the trucks on the 2 lane roads. This kinda delayed our lunch plans, but by 2 pm, we reached a roadside dhaba, which was the only one for miles.
This is where we decided to stop for lunch. The food was good, though not necessarily Gujarati cuisine. And the nanos got some rest too.
The Madhya Pradesh border was some 35 kms away and we were told that the roads would get worse after that. We prepared ourselves mentally and moved on.
It is an extremely warm day and the Superdrive team is on its way to Indore.
Just a short while back, we took a quick pit stop by the highway and near some dry bamboo trees. The idea was to stretch our limbs and relax before we move on!
